    What happened to English?

    Thoughts By 4 years ago

This week I reconnected with a mentor of mine after 3 years. We had a great catch up and soon after he sent the best written email since the last time we were in contact in 2009.  From its thought out structure, linked sentences, perfect grammar and wide vocabulary. I felt special based on the extra few minutes it took him to compose.

These days our communication is second rate. Be it emails with lazy (or no) sign off, tweets that sacrifice commas for hashtags or the laziest form of all – a Facebook like.

So I responded (keeping a close eye on my grammar!) – “You certainly have a way with words.”

    To which he replied:

“Always remember words are the life blood of civilisation Josh – something in the like/dislike world of social media we forget at our peril!!!”

Hey Siri, how do I start a conversation with someone with a disability?

We all love Siri’s little witty quips, but I recently read a heartwarming article over on Mashable that reflects the power of technology to change lives in ways that most of us would never appreciate. I won’t spoil
