Little known tip

If there’s a menu item you use frequently, but doesn’t have a keyboard shortcut to it or you want an alternative, you can setup a custom one quite easily.

First, find the menu item you want a custom shortcut for, note down the exact name of the menu item, in this case it’s “Export…”

Open System Preferences and load the Keyboard settings and go to the Shortcuts tab, then:

  1. Click add
  2. Select the app you want to apply this to
  3. Type the exact title of the menu item
  4. Click the Keyboard Shortcut box
  5. On the keyboard, press your preferred custom shortcut
  6. Hit Add, then enjoy
